It's hard work being good all the time

i never heeded the old adage about judging a book by its cover. I can be suckered into just about anything with beautiful packaging. Shallow really, but sometimes it can be pleasantly surprising. So when picked this book up from our local library, it was purely for its simple, clean, yet vibrant illustrations. Upon reading the humourous tale about a dog trying to be good amidst temptation, it reminded me of a friend’s observation about my Boy: You can see he wants to be good; but he just can’t help himself. Even the Boy found the story amusing, as I’m sure he can relate to the constant struggle between what HE wants to do, and how WE expect him to behave. It opens up a discussion about impulse control beautifully decorated by Chris Haughton’s images. And the best part? The ending is left to the Boy’s imagination.

Proof my hubby loves me

After a particularly exhausting afternoon at Science World, the hubby left his charge in search for a little pick-me-up. Popcorn for him, and despite the fact that he thinks its the worst thing anyone can put in their stomach, cotton candy for me, But he loves me, and I love cotton candy. I love the soft pastel colour. I love the fluffiness. I love the way it melts in my mouth. And I love the how it ~~gives me a sugar rush~~ makes me happy. But this is not a fresh one on a stick, no. This was Candee Fluff in a plastic container. Despite this, I shrugged and decided to try it out. It disappeared in about 10 minutes. And I did not share with my equally sugar-obsessed offspring. Yes, my hubby really loves me.

Oh Bruno, you can do no wrong. I finally got my hands on the sophomore album from Bruno Mars last week. Love love love it. In fact, that’s all I’ve been listening to. Definitely helps that both Hubby and the Kid love him too. Some songs are probably not appropriate around a 4 year old. But I can’t help it! The bubble gum pop tune ”Treasure” makes me dance every time, and hearing the Kid sing “Young girls” (“all you young wild girls, you make a mess of me, oh you young wild girls, you’ll be the death of me”) just makes me chuckle.
